- 01.06.2023: Our joint project with MERL (Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs) on meta-learning for industrial applications, funded by NCCR Automation, will kick-off on the 1st of August.
- 05.07.2022: I presented our project on automating optical alignment for laser labs on the Innovation Booster Photonics event AI and Photonics, in FHNW Brugg. This is a collaboration with the Gun Laser Group at PSI, and the laser group at FHNW - and we look for industry partners.

- 28.10.2021: We kick-off our robot-based manufacturing lab at Technopark. Stay tuned for advanced industrial robots for high-precision manufacturing, merging sensor fusion, tracking systems, and learning of manufacturing processes (tool-material interactions).
- 10.09.2021: Two more NCCR projects had been kicked-off: Robot-based manufacturing (collaboration with Jürg Keller at FHNW and John Lygeros), and Advanced control for SLM (collaboration with Colin Jones).
- 28.02.2021: Happy to contribute to two papers accepted for presentation at IEEE ICRA 2021. One of them describes a new approach for adaptive control using Bayesian optimisation, applied to improve tracking in rotational and linear drives and originates directly from our project for Data-driven adaptive control of high end motion stages. The other one demonstrates reinforcement learning applied to racing car path planning using mostly data from simulation to learn the controller, and has been also presented at the NeurIPS 3rd robot learning workshop.
- 04.01.2021: I am hosting a special issue on Advanced control and learning for manufacturing, in the MDPI Manufacturing and Materials Processing Journal. It is open for contributions until Sept. 23, 2021. More info here.
- 04.01.2021: Our paper Performance-driven cascade controller tuning with Bayesian optimization has been accepted to the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics.

- 16.12.2019: The NCCR Automation focused on various aspects related to automation is one of the six approved national competence centres for research. We participate there leading the advanced manufacturing project.
- 01.12.2019: Welcome to Xavier Guidetti who joined the inspire group as a PhD student, working on data-driven process control (co-supervised with Prof.Dr. John Lygeros at the Automatic Control Laboratory).
- 15.07.2019: New Innosuisse project on data-driven process control for plasma-assisted thermal spray coating approved.
- 14.03.2019: The Impulse project where we participate in consortium with groups from SUPSI and HE-ARC for optimization of multichannel machining is approved by Innosuisse.
- 09.09.2019: Our Innosuisse proposal for data-driven insights for grinding got approved.
- 15.06.2018: Welcome to Samuel Balula who joined the inspire group as a PhD student (co-supervised with Prof.Dr. John Lygeros at the Automatic Control Laboratory), working on merging data-driven and first principles modelling for real-time control of industrial processes.
