Re-running a simulation from Basement v.2.8.2 to Basement v4.0.2

Hi everyone,

I tried to re-run a simulation made in 2018 (Basement v.2.8.2) with the actual version of Basement.
To do so, I follow the steps described in the presentation "Introducing BASEMENT Version 4" from the 8. User Meeting (https://people.ee.ethz.ch/~basement/bas … ergler.pdf).
I could import the .bmc file, the simulation went well and I could export the xdmf file.
Afterwards when I tried to upload this xdmf file in the mesh on Qgis (3.20.1), I got the following error message "Could not read mesh dataset".
Looking at the results, I have big files in .sol and .dat (order of Gbits) and the setup.h5 and results.h5 size are only 8 Ko.

This leads to my following questions :
1) Is it normal that the results.h5 is this small ?
2) If yes, how can I upload the results .sol and .dat into the mesh in order to see the results ?

Thanks,

Re: Re-running a simulation from Basement v.2.8.2 to Basement v4.0.2

Hi,
try to open the results with ParaView and see what happens.
Possible explanation for the "could not read mesh dataset" could be:

  1. wrong header in the .xdmf file as reported somewhere else in the forum

  2. wrong path pointing to the mesh in the .xdmf file

  3. something wrong in the simulation (you can see it with paraview)

Hope this helps
