Hi everyone,
Question on MATID: Is there a standard material index for each portion of a region of interest available somewhere? Or, are the MATIDs defined by the user as their respective roughness values in BASEMENT?
Cheers,
Cris

Hi Cris
MATIDs are basically arbitrary integers to differentiate between different regions in BASEMENT. Let's say you want to define three different "regions" in your domain: river bed, embankments and floodplains.
Therefore in the meshing process you assign the following MATIDs: river bed (MATID=1), enbankments (MATID=2) and floodplains (MATID=3). In your model you can now define different roughness coefficients to the specific regions. But this concept is not limited to roughness coefficients but also applies e.g. for the fixed bed elevation, sources, grainsize etc... In BASEMENT version 2.x linking of model characteristics to MATIDs is done via index tables. whereas in version 3.x this is done via "regions" which can be specified based on MATIDs.
I hope this clarifies it.

Matthias

Hi Matthias,
Makes total sense. Thank you!
