How to model a pump?

Hi,

I am a civil engineering student working on my thesis. I have a problem, concerning which type of boundary to use to force an outflow (pump) of maximum 20m^3/s.
I am making a simulation of a flood event in a river, and am trying to check the functionality of an apparatus that would help evacuate the water from the river to the sea (so at the estuary), by pumping a maximum of 20m^3/s from the river to the sea with a head difference of 1m. So that when a high tide occurs at the same moment as a flash flood, the water can be evacuated more easily.
What boundary should I use? i tried the h-q relation but it didn't seem to be working.

Kind Regards,

Seppe M

Re: How to model a pump?

Hi Seppe

Maybe you can try with an external source, while the discharge is a negative value...

Re: How to model a pump?

Hi René,
How would I do this, I haven't seen the option for it. It would need to work like a pump really.

Kind Regards,

Seppe

Re: How to model a pump?

Hi Seppe

Not sure, this is working, but: Basement > Domain> Baseplane_2D > Hydaulics > Source > External_Source

Maybe you can also use an Controller: Basement > Domain > Controller

Or: Use Base_Extern: Basement > Domain > Base_Extern

So far, I didn't use the two last options.

Hi René,

Thank you for your answer, I have tried the external source and it seemed to be working.

Kind Regards,
