BASEMENT Version 4.0

Dear Users of BASEMENT

We are pleased to announce the release of BASEMENT version 4.0.

A full 20 years after the start of the project, we are proud to present version 4 of BASEMENT. This new major version is similar to the very first version of BASEMENT – released in 2006 – which consisted of the two modules BASEchain and BASEplane and had a modular workflow.
Version 4 also consists of two modules: BASEMD and BASEHPC. MD stands for “Multi-Domain” and corresponds to the previous version 2.8.2, HPC stands for “High-Performance Computing” and corresponds to the previous version 3.2. Thus, all features from the two previous versions are retained and integrated into a common simulation workflow.

We kindly ask you to test your models with this version, and give feedback if the program exhibits unexpected behavior. Changes compared to previous versions can be tracked in the release notes. Please refer to the documentation, part "Introduction and Installation", for more details about version 4.0. The Summary of Features provides an overview of the available functionalities of BASEMENT version 4.0, while the Migration Guide provides help with migrating existing simulations from previous versions 2.x and 3.x to version 4.0.
