About “Upstream_direction” STRINGDEF

Dear All,

perhaps my question may be trivial but I do not understand the role of  “Upstream_direction” inside STRINGDEF section.

I try to change from “left” to “right” in river Flaz-2D tutorial without getting any differences in water surface elevation after simulation run.

My question is: once you define inflow/outflow mesh nodes progressively as they are in the 2dm file, what is the added information provided by “upstream_direction” command? What is the reasoning to choose right or left? Left or Right defines which is the first node to be defined inside STRINGDEF section and then consequently all the others?

Regards,

Roberto

Re: About “Upstream_direction” STRINGDEF

Hi Roberto,

put yourself on the first node of the stringdef,
look at the second node of the stringdef,
find out whether "upstream" is on your right or left.

...and you find out the correct direction to give to your stringdef!

Cheers
