Zero_gradient boundary condition for lateral boundaries

Hi,
At the moment I am trying to simulate a 2D model of a river (only hydrodynamics) using basement v2.8. I have imposed a zero gradient boundary condition at the lateral boundaries of my domain however, when the flow arrives at the lateral boundaries it seems like the model generates flux into the domain. (See image below)

Results with zero_gradient BC

Does someone have a hint why this is happening?

Best regards
Marco

Re: Zero_gradient boundary condition for lateral boundaries

Hi Marco,

I suggest you to try using the hqrelation downstream boundary condition which is way more stable than zero_gradient!

Cheers
Matteo
