Wall and weir Geometry

Good morning,

I have a domain with a wall and a weir. How can I insert these elements in the geometry? Do I have to insert them as holes in the 2Dmesh of QGIS or it has to be done in a second step directly with Basement?

Hi Cristina

It depends on where these elements are located. By default the boundary of your domain is treated as a wall. If you want a wall inside your domain, you've got to insert a hole during the meshing process in BASEMesh.
If you need a weir inside your domain, you've got to insert a hole where your weir is. In BASEMENT you define an "inner weir" boundary condition and specify the upstream and downstream mesh nodes of your weir. You can extract the mesh nodes with the string def tool in BASEMesh.

thanks for your comment! In addition I'd like to refer to our updated BASEmesh tutorial where it is demonstrated how to build a mesh including holes for inner boundaries in tutorial 3.
