Can the BASEMENT simulate tide movement?

Can the BASEMENT simulate tide movement?
As I know, BASEMENT is powerful in simulating flow in channels.
Can the BASEMENT simulate the flow in estuaries or seas?

Re: Can the BASEMENT simulate tide movement?

Dear wid

up to now, we have not made tide simulations. Generally, I think it should be possible. You may try to use the 'zhydrograph' boundary to set the sea-level as boundary condition for your domain. This boundary was designed to simulate lake water levels as boundary conditions. If the sea-level exceeds the water level in the domain, water will enter over this boundary. If the sea-level is below the water level in the domain, water will flow out over this boundary.

The simulation of water flow in seas is also, in principle, possible. Be aware, however, that BASEMENT relies on the shallow-water-assumption which may be violated in such scenarios.

Regards,
Christian

Re: Can the BASEMENT simulate tide movement?

Thanks a lot.
I did some simulations of tidal flow by using the 'zhydrograph' boundary, but it did not work well.
So I hope get help from here.

Thanks!
I will try again later.

Regards,
Wid

Re: Can the BASEMENT simulate tide movement?

I think that the Boundary Conditions in the test case of the malpasset dam break should include the tidal boundary in the sea.
