Short Bio
From September 2023 I will be holding the endowed professorship on Industrial AI at the Zurich University for Applied Sciences, while still strongly collaborating with the Automatic Control Lab. Since 2018 I was the group leader of the Advanced Control group at Inspire, the technology transfer organisation at ETH Zurich and senior scientist and PI in the Automatic Control Laboratory at ETH Zurich, where I lead research projects in the field of robotics, control, and automation jointly with industrial partners, related to advanced and emerging manufacturing applications. Since January 2021 I have been appointed as expert in ICT at the Swiss innovation agency, Innosuisse. Previously I led for four years the application development in the Zurich-based startup Qualysense AG for fast grain-sorting robots using machine learning techniques for high-dimensional spectroscopic and imaging data. My Ph.D. is in the field of time-resolved laser spectroscopy from the Vrije Universteit Amsterdam (2009) and my undergraduate degrees in Laser Physics are from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria. I was awarded a two-year ETH post-doctroral fellowship grant to finance my postdoctoral research in the field of ultrafast high-harmonic spectroscopy of gas-phase molecules in the Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Attosecond Science group at ETH Zurich.
