Since June 2014, I am a research scientist at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. I completed my PhD studies in May 2014, under the supervision of Prof. Akis Spyropoulos and Prof. Bernhard Plattner from the Communication Systems Group.
My main research interests are:
|▶ 07.05.2014:||Successfully defended my thesis!|
|"Delay Tolerant Networks with Heterogeneous Mobility: Models and Algorithmic Implications".|
|▶ 21.01.2014:||Officially back from maternity leave!|
|▶ 16.01.2014:||Paper accepted to IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking!|
|"DTN-Meteo: Forecasting the Performance of DTN Protocols Under Heterogeneous Mobility" with A. Spyropoulos.|
|▶ 30.09.2013:||We won the Best Paper Award at CHANTS 2013 with "Slicing the battery pie: fair and efficient energy usage in device-to-device communication via role switching"!|
|▶ 21.09.2013:||Birth of Ivo Toma Hossmann in Zürich, Switzerland!|
|▶ 08.07.2013:||Paper accepted to ACM MobiCom CHANTS 2013 taking place in September in Miami, FL, USA!|
|"Slicing the battery pie: fair and efficient energy usage in device-to-device communication via role switching" with S. Trifunovic, T. Hossmann and K. Hummel.|
|▶ 27.06.2012:||We won the Best Paper Award at WoWMoM 2012 with "An Analysis of the Information Spreading Delay in Heterogeneous Mobility DTNs"!|
I was born in Alexandria, Romania in 1983.
In May 2014, I completed my PhD studies at ETH Zürich, Switzerland, under the supervision of Prof. Akis Spyropoulos and Prof. Bernhard Plattner from the Communication Systems Group. I also hold a Master's degree in Telecommunications from INSA Lyon, France and an MSc in Computer Science majoring in networking from the Université de Lyon, France.
During my PhD studies, I won two Best Paper Awards (at IEEE WoWMoM 2012 and ACM MobiCom CHANTS 2013) and went on two research visits at the University of Cambridge, UK and at EURECOM, France. As part of my Master's degree, I spent one year abroad at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. The entirety of my undergraduate studies have been funded by scholarships awarded by: the "Georges Besse" foundation in France; the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the USA; and the French regions of Upper Normandy and Rhône-Alpes.
