I was born in Alexandria, Romania in 1983.
In 2002, after high-school graduation, I earned a scholarship for higher education in France. Five years later, in 2007, I received my Master's degree in Telecommunications from INSA Lyon, France. The same year I also received an MSc in Computer Science majoring in networking from the Université de Lyon, France.
In fall 2008, after a 1-year research contract at INRIA, France, I started my PhD studies at ETH Zürich, Switzerland advised by Prof. Akis Spyropoulos and Prof. Bernhard Plattner from the Communication Systems Group.
As part of my Master's degree, I spent one year abroad at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. The entirety of my undergraduate studies have been funded by scholarships awarded by: the "Georges Besse" foundation in France; the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the USA; and the French regions of Upper Normandy and Rhône-Alpes.
